The Place
Here is a picture of Sky Blue Cottage and the "green space" across the street where we had a family picture taken
. It was just a short walk down the hill to the beach where many castles, forts, and compounds were constructed. Kids and sand are always a great match. Except for the clean-up afterwards, I think adults like it too.

And Some More
Here are a few beach and post-beach scenes from last week.
The girls are warming up after swimming in the tidal pool in the background, and Kevin is keeping Tobin warm and close by. There are not many pictures of Angela since she had to sleep during the day because of her work schedule, but she and Sophie spent quite a bit of time together. Sophie was fascinated by Ang's phone, and Ang let her "use" it a few times for some very interesting, pretend conversations.
500-piece puzzles required teamwork, and Gabe and Sam were able to help complete one of them. All told, about 7 people worked on puzzles. Somehow, once we get home, the puzzles never seem to make it out of the box. No wonder you see so many puzzles at garage sales!

More Sky Blue Memories
Elinore took advantage of a beautiful day to cool off after hiking to Big Red. Noah loved the sand and surf--although those heavy diapers can make walking a bit difficult. Eric and Ron tried mightily to get this too-heavy kite to fly, but it will need stronger winds than we have experienced. Jen's reading to Sophie was typical of many such sessions throughout the day.
Kids loving books certainly helps if the weather is cool or rainy.

Sky Blue
When is Sky Blue not the name of a crayon in the Crayola Box? When it's the name of a cottage in Macatawa near Lake Michigan and large enough for all 15 members of our family. I have so many pictures of our week there and will share some of my favorites
in the next few entries. Much time was spent on the beach and in the tidal pool which was warmer than the lake. Tobin loved walking along the shore, and Lydia spent lots of time on sand creations.
Meal responsibilities were shared by all the families. Sophie is helping Brian and Amy with one of their breakfast turns. We ate (and snacked) well! Gabe and Sam spent time reading, among many other activities.
It was an awesome week and a great time to reconnect before Eric, Ang and
Gabe leave for SE Asia soon. More to come.
