Jake and Amelie

We finally arrived in Germany for the wedding of Jake and Amelie--the main purpose of our trip. They were married in a civil ceremony in the morning at a castle near Muhltal, south of Frankfurt. We then went for lunch at the bride's family's home. Since it was about 100 degrees, the bride and groom relaxed inside.

The religious ceremony was in the afternoon in a church with the bride's grandfather officiating. The services were beautiful and included German, Dutch, and English. The outdoor reception was under tents and lasted until late in the evening--when it became somewhat cooler. We really enjoyed being able to meet Jake and Amelie's extended families and guests from so many different countries. Jake and Amelie are now settled near Nurnberg, Germany, and we hope we will see one another in the coming years.

Sounds like a truly international affair and a time to remember! Too bad it was so hot... the happy couple doesn't seem to care though.
